We respect your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and your choices. It is designed to meet Chrome Web Store expectations for extensions that handle personal or sensitive data.

Quick Summary

  • We collect only what’s needed to provide summaries, sync, and credits (email, tokens on-device, video metadata, summaries, credits usage, basic logs, timezone).
  • We do not sell your data and do not use it for personalized ads.
  • Data sharing is limited to service providers (Supabase, Stripe, hosting) and legal/safety needs.
  • Security: HTTPS in transit, provider safeguards at rest, tokens stored locally.
  • Your control: Delete summaries/folders in-app; request account deletion via email.
  • Permissions are minimal and purpose-limited (YouTube UI integration, auth, storage, windows for OAuth/Stripe).

Information We Collect

  • Account data (via Supabase): Email address and basic profile fields to create and identify your account.
  • Authentication: OAuth access and refresh tokens to keep you signed in. Tokens are stored locally on your device and used to authenticate API requests.
  • Video metadata and content you provide: YouTube video URL, title, thumbnail, and duration for videos you choose to summarize; prompt type (Analysis/Summary/Custom) and custom prompt text (if provided); folder names and read status; the summaries generated for you.
  • Usage and credits: Non-marketing usage records such as request timestamps and credit ledger events to enforce free/premium limits and show remaining credits.
  • Service logs: Standard server logs (e.g., IP address, user-agent, timestamps, error logs) for security, debugging, and abuse prevention.
  • Payments: Subscription/checkout is handled by Stripe. We do not collect or store card numbers. We may store Stripe session or customer identifiers and plan status to provide premium features.
  • Timezone: Your device’s timezone (e.g., “America/Los_Angeles”) to localize account features like credit resets.

How We Use Information

  • Authentication & sync: Provide sign-in and keep your summaries/folders available across devices.
  • Summarization: Generate AI-powered summaries for videos you choose.
  • Credits: Operate free/premium quotas and display remaining credits.
  • Security & reliability: Maintain, debug, and protect the service from abuse/fraud.
  • Payments: Manage subscriptions and credit packs via Stripe.
  • Product improvement: Use aggregate/error data to improve features and performance.

Sharing and Disclosure

  • Service providers: Supabase (auth/database), hosting (backend infrastructure), and Stripe (payments). They process data only to provide our services.
  • Google OAuth: Used for sign-in. We never see your Google password.
  • Legal and safety: We may disclose information to comply with law, enforce terms, or protect rights, property, or safety.
  • Business transfers: In a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, data may transfer as part of the transaction.
  • No sale / no advertising use: We do not sell your data and do not use it for personalized, interest-based, or retargeted advertising.

Security

  • All personal or sensitive data is transmitted over HTTPS.
  • Tokens are stored locally on your device; backend data is protected by our providers (e.g., Supabase) with appropriate controls (including Row Level Security for application data).
  • We apply access controls and follow least-privilege principles for our services.

Data Retention and Deletion

  • While active: We retain account and summary data to provide the service.
  • Self-serve deletion: Clear summaries/folders from the extension UI at any time.
  • Account deletion: Request deletion by contacting us (see Contact below).
  • Limited logs: Some logs may be retained for security and legal compliance.

Your Choices and Rights

  • Manage data: Access, correct, or delete summaries and folders in the extension.
  • Request changes: Contact us to access, correct, or delete account data.
  • Sign out: Stop new data from being associated with your account at any time.

Chrome Web Store “Limited Use” Commitments

  • Allowed use: Data and permissions are used solely to provide/improve summarization, folder organization, credits, and sync.
  • Allowed transfer: Only to service providers as needed, for legal compliance, or business transfers.
  • No ads: We do not use or transfer data for personalized advertising.
  • No human reading: Except with your consent, for security, legal compliance, or aggregated/anonymized internal operations.

Permissions We Request (Purpose-Limited)

  • activeTab: Interact with the current YouTube tab after you click the extension (e.g., open popup, update unread badges).
  • tabs: Find open youtube.com tabs to send updates (e.g., unread counts). We do not read general browsing history.
  • storage: Save local settings, summaries, folders, and auth tokens on your device.
  • identity: Google sign-in via Supabase to authenticate your account.
  • windows: Open OAuth and Stripe checkout/billing windows.
  • Host permissions: https://www.youtube.com/* to show the summarize button; backend/API domains to process summaries and sync; https://accounts.google.com/* for Google OAuth; Stripe for payments. We request the minimum scope needed.

Data We Do Not Collect

  • We do not collect your general web browsing history. We only process the specific YouTube video URLs you choose to summarize.
  • We do not collect keystrokes, mouse movements, or personal communications.
  • We do not collect health information or store payment card numbers (Stripe processes payments).

International Transfers

  • Global processing: Your information may be processed where our providers operate.
  • Transfer mechanisms: We rely on recognized safeguards as applicable.

Children’s Privacy

  • Not for children under 13: If you believe a child provided information, contact us to delete it.

Changes to This Policy

  • We may update this policy and will revise the “Last updated” date above. We may provide additional notice for material changes.
